Article originally posted on Data Science Central. Visit Data Science Central

Do you remember Kodak or Atlas? These were pioneers in their respective industries. Unfortunately, these companies are now defunct. Reason? In the age of digitalization, these companies were rendered obsolete as they couldn’t keep up with the technology. Other companies could be on the brink of being obsolete too unless they invest in technology.

Among other departments, human resources can benefit hugely from technology. HR tech, specifically, has the potential to transform an entire organization. Consequently, organizations are increasingly approaching technology to make their workplace better, improve the work environment, facilitate employee services, promote inclusivity and diversity, and more.

Global enterprises and small and medium –based businesses are catching on fast to technology. The adoption of SAAS (software-as-a-service), cloud, blockchain, artificial intelligence in all spheres of human resources management is accelerating. Recruitment, health, and wellness, insurance, and benefits, etc. are in advanced stages of technology deployment. According to a survey report conducted by the MIT Technology Review, 60 percent of organizations are in the later stages of cloud deployment.

Benefits of HR tech trends

Here are a few ways in which HR technology is helping companies.

1. Transformation: The use of technology in workplaces is creating new positions where people require advance digital skills, improving candidate research and office management.

2. Improve efficiency and productivity: Use of cloud-based systems speed up task completion, improve collaboration, and increase productivity. ATS (Applicant tracking systems), HRIS (Human Resource Information systems), etc. save the time of HR professionals by cutting the time down.

3. Reduce cost: Deployment of technology to carry out various HR functions speeds up operations and reduce human effort, doing more in less, thereby considerably reducing cost.

In addition to the above benefits, HR technology offers the following advantages.

1. Higher accessibility: Everyone can access data from anywhere as long as the organization allows it.

2. Fast and error-free operations: Chances of mistakes are lesser and administration can respond quicker to tasks. In case of emergency, AI-powered systems can respond faster than human responses could ever be.

3. Competitive advantage: Personalized and bespoke technology is advantageous to companies.

Finding the fitting HR technology

The human resource landscape is rife with technology. Inevitably, there’s no size-fits-all approach to find the best technology that can help companies find fitting technology. Leaders need to take a proactive approach to find the technology that suits their purpose.

CHROs must take a proactive approach to research technology, uncover employee thoughts, and get their buy-in. Training and development programs for employees should be put in place to equip employees with the right skills to utilize technology. Awareness about the benefits of the technology – better communication, accountability, secure files, etc. — should be propagated to employees. Routine feedback should be sought to make use of technology easier and efficient among employees.

Let employees see what technology can do for them. Further, the progress made over time, improvements in plans, and results should be communicated to motivate employees to make them realize the benefits of the technology.

The following tips help in the transition to technology.

  • Communicate plans and benefits before purchasing and implementing
  • Keep the training simple and the tool easy to use
  • Get buy-in from opinion leaders
  • Prepare and implement a staggered, layered communication plan
  • Seek feedback and allow for flexibility

Final word

Technology is paving way for the advancement of companies and offers a gamut of benefits. CHROs and HR leaders must take note and see how technology fits in their operations. It requires considerable effort from the HR leader’s end – researching, educating employees, and setting up knowledge transfer. In the end, however, it is immensely beneficial.

Keras Hyperparameter Tuning Has Never Been That Easy: When AI Facilitates Building Another AI

MMS Founder

Article originally posted on Data Science Central. Visit Data Science Central

Hyperparameter tuning is considered time-consuming and computationally expensive as it requires testing numerous combinations before attaining the optimum values. Using the available tuning libraries do not solve these issues as many of them randomly investigate the solution space while others are built for general use without adequately understand the hidden features in deep learning optimization. In this piece of writing, I am glad to introduce the state of art aisaratuners library which is the first AI-base tuning library tailored for Keras hyperparameter optimization. Functionality for sklearn and Pytorch will be introduced in the future.

Even though aisaratuners is newly released but its innovative workflow along with the disruptive embedded technology makes it outstand compare to other tuning libraries. In plain english, this library uses AiSara Hyperparameter Tuning API to reduce the solution space boundaries in stages (rounds) during the optimization process, the analogy is like a satellite system triangulating to find the exact GPS location.

how aisaratuners reduces hyperparameters solution space boundaries during optimization

Aisaratuners is very convenient and easy to use, it requires less number of trials thus consumes less computational resources. The user needs to introduce minimal and understandable changes to the code and follow 3 simple steps which include; defining the hyperparameters, building the model, and specify the number of trials and rounds before running the optimization. For now, aisaratuners only accept numerical hyperparameters but it is in our plan to include categorical ones soon, some of the numerical hyperparameters that can be tuned using aisaratuners include:
      1. learning rate
      2. epoch
      3. batch size
      4. dropout rate
      5. number of layers
      6. number of units and filters

Aisaratuners contains many functions that provide the user with interactive visualizations of the results summary. Some of these visualizations include best accuracy and accuracy distribution at each round, parallel coordinates plot visualizing the performance of each trial, the convergence of each hyperparameter to its best value range during each round, and a 3D visualization of the solution space.

interactive visualizations of the results summary in aisaratuners

We invite you to try aisaratuners library for fast and convenient hyperparameter tuning. Also, we would like to hear about your experience using aisaratuners, please comment below or email us at support@aisara.ai.

Note: aisaratuners is free for private use (also it includes hackathon, Kaggle competitions, teaching materials in paid or free education platforms). For commercial use, please register via RapidApi.

Artificial Intelligence in the Content Marketing Landscape

Rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

“Artificial Intelligence is one of the most important things humanity is working on. It’s more profound than I don’t know, may be electricity or fire.” – Google CEO Sundar Pichai

We are living in an era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotic machines. The future we used to see in the movies back in our childhood is here. We are finally embracing the futuristic technologies of our childhood.

Artificial intelligence is one of the evolving technologies that is disrupting the value chains of creative economy. It’s a digital brain that learns and carry out decisions without human intervention. Most of the marketers are now choosing AI-powered tools in planning & decision making.

Artificial intelligence is now a flourishing market.

With AI-powered tools, marketers can anticipate the customer’s next move to improve the customer journey. AI-powered marketing will provide better ways to nurture leads, predictive analysis, decision making & automation.

AI helps marketers to accelerate tedious and time-consuming tasks and make decisions at a deeper level so the customers will always get the best experiences.

AI in content creation

Artificial intelligence bots are helping markers in creating content according to the buyer persona. Machine learning algorithms that simulate the human brain can quickly learn and classify a user’s preferences.

From movies streamed on Netflix to products purchased on Amazon, users can get recommended content tailored to their search queries with AI integration.

More disruptively, machine learning is now creating original content across multiple industries. It generates text to expand the range of offerings and free up 20% of reporters’ time while growing output tenfold.

AI offers the content marketing landscape with incredible potential.

An intelligent robot writer won an award in a literary contest in Japan by writing a short novel.

Many publishers and news sites use AI tools to cover short reports and stories in sports and politics. The Washington Post has its own AI tool that generated about 70 articles a month in the start.

The press sites use AI because it can produce content at scale, and to increase the coverage, these sites need to deploy automated writing.

“The future [of journalism] will require automation editors—someone who is both proficient in journalism and computer science” – Francesco Marconi

However, when it comes to generating content for user interaction, artificial intelligence still can’t beat human writers.

The automated writers can’t connect with readers on an emotional level. As these are only machines, they can’t personalize the content that emotionally connects with readers.

On the flip side, robot writers can help produce some low-value tasks or when the writer needs to produce content by learning from consumer behavior from a narrowly defined set of interests obtained by a robot writer.

Thereby fantastic results can be obtained when human skills and artificial intelligence combine.

What AI skills should content marketers need?

AI is not still that advance enough to fully simulate human behavior and mind. It is not replacing your jobs either. It is only evolving and getting more sophisticated, and to compete with the technology; you should improve your skills and master the tasks that these intelligent machines can’t accomplish.

If you want to keep up in the era of artificial intelligence, you must learn to:

  • Sharpen your communication skills and emotional intelligence to deepen your relationships with clients and customers. AI systems don’t have that emotional intelligence like a human. So, here you can win the race with empathy. It does not only help you to read your customers’ minds but to communicate with them effectively.
  • Predict the nature of your customers with qualitative research. AI tools can only help you to acquire information about customer interaction at different points of the sales funnel. It won’t help you to understand the nature of your customers. You have to decide the strategies that will work for your customers’ nature.
  • Gain knowledge of coding, analytics, and mathematics to figure out how to use data sets to propel your business forward. Analytics help you use predictive marketing tools; mathematics allows you to make crucial business decisions. Coding knowledge helps you understand the samples and video tutorials that people share on marketing forums about breakthroughs in data and technology.
  • Create engaging content that entertains your audience – AI tools cannot write blog posts that help solve a customer’s problem on a personal level. Only human writers have that power to persuade customers with emotional, powerful, and persuasive words. A human writer can only bring personality and empathy in the writing that makes a reader take action.
  • Comprehend the ethical concerns – Artificial Intelligence tools may be highly “intelligent,” but they can’t collect consumer data with ethics and integrity. Because these are only the traits of human and digital brains can’t simulate this human skill. Customers feel comfortable when they have surety about the safety of their personal data. If marketers will move forward with the ethical concerns and communicate with their customers how they are protecting their data, customers will feel comfortable.

The future of AI in marketing

Get Started with Artificial Intelligence in Content Marketing - Digitalize

Artificial intelligence systems are becoming increasingly effective at performing cognitive tasks. They are here to work side by side with humans to make strategic decisions and think out innovative solutions to complex problems.

Marketers can leverage artificial intelligence tools to make their audience engaged in a meaningful and profitable way.

It is true that AI is becoming symbiotic with human Labor in many ways.

It compresses speed to insight. It analyses, processes, and presents findings of any data faster than humans and offers real-time responses.

But it doesn’t mean it is replacing human creatives and strategists. AI only helps humans to push their creative boundaries so they can invest in more interesting tasks.

It’s all about building a team of AI experts who can brainstorm ideas with artificial intelligence and put them into practice.

The future of marketing isn’t the AI takeover – it’s a creative, effective, and valuable collaboration between human and Artificial Intelligence.

The presents have been opened, the eggnog and rum toddies drunk, the cookies eaten. This year, in a shift that has been underway for a while, the vast majority of all presents were shipped rather than purchased from retail stores, and as such it’s likely that the Twelve Days of Christmas will become an indication of when Amazon will finally get packages to you as part of its projected shipping window.
For most people, 2020 has been the year that couldn’t end soon enough. The Covid-19 pandemic started out a year that became increasingly tumultuous, with heated street protests and the occasional riots (usually not the same people), a major recession, extreme weather including one of the longest hurricane seasons on record, a contentious political season, and a massive extranational hack, among several other events. Heck, it even included its own comet (Neowise) and Grand Conjunction (Jupiter and Saturn), the latter the first time since the 17th century that the heavens have aligned so.
Statistically, there is no guarantee that an awful year (an Annus Horribilis) will be followed by a great year (Annus Mirabilis), but early signs are promising. Several vaccines against the virus have been developed in a remarkably short period of time  (which the AI and ML community had a significant part to play), and are beginning to be rolled out globally. That, in turn, is likely to resolve at least some of the economic problems we face. Politically administrations are being voted into or out of office largely on the basis of how well they managed the pandemic, which is a good indication that, moving forward, science and analytics does matter. This is one of the big reasons that we continue to produce DSC.
