Tier 5 Technologies, a leading West African enterprise IT and cloud services provider, has formed a strategic partnership with global database giant MongoDB to drive digital transformation across Nigeria and the wider West African region.
The collaboration aims to position the region to capture a significant share of Africa’s projected $100 billion digital economy.
The partnership was officially unveiled during the recent “Legacy Modernisation Day” event in Lagos, which was co-hosted by both companies. The focus is on supporting organisations in modernising their IT infrastructure to fully leverage emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, while addressing legacy system challenges that have slowed innovation in many African businesses.

Regional Director for Middle East and Africa at MongoDB, Anders Irlander Fabry, described the partnership with Tier 5 Technologies as a crucial move in expanding MongoDB’s footprint in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and one of the continent’s leading economies.
“Tier 5 Technologies brings a proven track record, a strong local network, and a clear commitment to MongoDB as their preferred data platform. They’ve already demonstrated their dedication by hiring MongoDB-focused sales specialists, connecting us with top C-level executives, and closing our first enterprise deals in Nigeria in record time. We’re excited about the impact we can make together in this strategic market,” Fabry stated.
With Africa’s digital economy expected to reach $100 billion, MongoDB and Tier 5 Technologies aim to equip organisations with cutting-edge database solutions that enable scalability, agility, and resilience. MongoDB’s modern database technologies are widely used by millions of developers and over 50,000 customers globally, including 70 per cent of Fortune 100 companies.
MongoDB’s product suite includes the self-managed MongoDB Enterprise Advanced and MongoDB Atlas, a fully managed cloud database platform available on AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. MongoDB Atlas, in particular, offers a compelling solution for African enterprises by addressing infrastructure limitations through cloud-based, scalable, low-latency database services that empower developers to build globally competitive applications.
The partnership represents a significant step towards unlocking Africa’s digital potential, providing businesses across the continent with the tools and technology to thrive in the increasingly competitive global marketplace.
